This is undoubtedly the best way to reach the abbey (the path is lined with dry stone walls) and to enjoy the coolness of the pine trees along the way.
A bucolic walk to Boscodon Abbey. This route offers a view of the Boscodon stream as well as the tranquillity of the undergrowth and wide views over the landscape.

    Abbey of Boscodon

This is the only abbey within the Department. It was built in the twelfth century and has been occupied by a variety of groups over time: the Chalaisian order, the Benedictine order and the families of commendatories; it also housed peasants at one time. Divided into several parts: the part open to the public is the abbey church. It has the distinctive feature of being very airy and has no coloured stained glass windows. This abbey also has a private chapel and a cloister delimiting an interior space.

Description

  1. From the Pont du Marquisat car park continue along the road to the "Charmaillon" picnic area on your right. Turn right onto a stony uphill path.
  2. At the crossroads, at the farm, turn onto the path furthest to the left, marked GR/PR
  3. At an intersection, continue straight ahead to find the road for a few metres before turning right (a sign points towards the Abbey). Ignore the right-hand exits and continue straight on to your destination. You can eat at the gîte d’étape before turning 180 degrees to return to your starting point
